Brinley often has a little mug of hot cocoa in the morning which she calls her “coffee”. When asked if she’d like some this morning, she informed us that she’s “off the coffee”.

“Guys!” shouts Brinley, running down the stairs. “I just did my first grownup thing! I caught a bug, and I put it in the toilet.”

Brinley loves looking at an astronomy app on her iPad. She calls it “stargazing”.

She sees some shooting stars in one portion of the sky, and she excitedly says, “Dad! I have to make a wish.”

She closes her eyes, and I can hear her whisper sweetly, “I wish I were a wonderful kid.”

Wishes do come true.

Brin tells a knock-knock joke.

“Knock knock!”

“Who’s there?”

“Peter Parson.”

“Peter Parson who?”

“Orange.”

“Mom!” Brinley says. “Last night I dreamt I was a gum ball and I tried really hard and then I got the hang of it.”

“Dad, I ate too much banana.” Brinley groans. “I have a banana-ache.”

Brin is always making up names for us. This morning I am “Draven” and she is “Barnagus”.
