This morning Micah is eating dry oatmeal for breakfast, then asks for some hot cocoa. He has a bite of the oatmeal, takes a sip of the cocoa, waits a bit, then with a sly grin looks at me and says, “I cooked the oatmeal in my mouth.”
Micah announces that he has to go pee.
“Okay,” says Sarah. “Wash your hands after.”
To which Micah replies, “No, pee.”
Micah and I are playing a Wii sword fighting game. After he knocks me off the platform he holds his controller aloft, shouts, “I am the king of dragon fire!” then sings a high choral note as if he’s just pulled the sword from the stone.
“Hey dad!” says Micah. “There’s another name for fool’s gold. It’s gold… fools.”
Micah, proud of his coloring abilities, declares, “I’m a gymnast at coloring!”
Micah and I get on our bikes to start our ride to the donut shop.
“Whoever gets there first gets a Ramen egg!” he says.
“Daddy!” says Micah, looking down at his toe. “I just stepped on a slap bracelet and SHOOP! It’s stuck to my foot.”
After school Brinley is talking about how there might be a thief in her classroom as things keep going missing.
“If they catch the thief there’s gonna be a big punishment,” she considers.
“Yeah,” says Micah, “Maybe a pie to the face.”
Amazed at Micah’s growth over the past year, Sarah tells him, “Buddy, we’re going to have to get you some new winter boots!”
Micah replies, “And I will have to go to the hospital and get some growing pains.”
Walking out of H&M where he got a space scene sweatshirt with fun sequins, Micah says, “This is my dreams-come-true sweatshirt.”
