Amazed at Micah’s growth over the past year, Sarah tells him, “Buddy, we’re going to have to get you some new winter boots!”

Micah replies, “And I will have to go to the hospital and get some growing pains.”

Walking out of H&M where he got a space scene sweatshirt with fun sequins, Micah says, “This is my dreams-come-true sweatshirt.”

Brin and I wonder if the summer construction at her school is complete, so we decide to drive past and take a look.

“If it’s not done,” she says cheerily, “I’m going to be pissed out.”

Another day, another long round of Micah sitting on the toilet.

“My soul doesn’t want me to poop.”

Micah after sitting on the toilet for 20 minutes: “I wanna have poops, but my butt doesn’t.”

“Oh no!” says Micah, aghast that there’s a gaping hole in a neighborhood house’s fence that’s being worked on. “Now we can see their naked house!”

“I just love the Fourth of July!” says Brinley, walking out of the fireworks tent, laden with bags of little fireworks.

“You sure do, Goose.”

“On the Fourth of July you’ll see what happens to me,” she adds with a smirk. “I sure love it.”

Sarah to Brinley: “What do you want to see at Costco?”

Brinley: “The meat bakery!”

She meant “deli”.

“Daddy, I want to eat gumdrops someday,” says Micah. “They look like gum, and you can drop ‘em in your mouth.”

“Have fun at the playground!” I say to Brin as they’re heading out the door while I stay home to work.

Attempting to reciprocate, she says, “Ok! And you have fun with Mac here. And maybe Regan’s soul if it’s still here.”
