It’s snacktime, and Brinley requests some ice cream. I tell her that she can have some ice cream if she eats three chicken nuggets. After some hemming and hawing, she eats the chicken nuggets, then starts with her demands for the ice cream.

She wants chocolate ice cream (“Dat’s berry good for me), she wants it in a cone, and she wants sprinkles on top. When she sees me following through with these demands, she excitedly says, “You’re doing it, Dad! You’re being a good listener!”.
